ASHRAE Building Performance Analysis Conference: Redefining Metrics and Methods for a Low Carbon Future
September 26, 2018 - September 28, 2018
Learn new techniques and workflows that will help researchers and practitioners make better decisions during the simulation and modeling process of an entire building life cycle at this year’s ASHRAE Building Performance Analysis + SimBuild Conference in Chicago, September 26-28, 2018. The conference will feature more than 60 presentations and approximately 120 papers by leading industry practitioners and academic researchers.
Our Building Energy Consultant team member will be co-presenting Redefining Metrics and Methods for a Low Carbon Future.
More information and registration can be found here.
Conventional energy efficiency metrics, such as energy cost savings over ASHRAE 90.1 are not driving projects to the low carbon outcomes that cities and states are seeking. Increasingly, energy policy is starting to focus directly on carbon as a metric, as well as other metrics to help project teams design to not only lower emissions, but also increased comfort, productivity and resiliency. This session will outline new building energy requirements in two North American jurisdictions as examples of emerging energy policies focusing directly on emissions and resiliency. Within these new frameworks, architecture will play a more lead role in the energy discussion.
As such, this session will also focus on architectural design opportunities and constraints within these new frameworks, and highlight solutions through the use of early design decision making tools that will be demonstrated within the session. It will show how architects can participate and contribute to the process in the new framework.
