In this webinar, we attempt to demystify smoke control by reviewing some of the most common smoke control features in commercial and residential high rise buildings. Learn from case studies to identify some of the most common issues found in existing buildings and explore options for smoke control system evaluation. The webinar will conclude in presenting a new testing sequence for existing smoke control systems that can be re-established and approved.

Lui Tai, P.Eng., ALFireE

Lui has over 30 years of experience in Codes and Fire Protection engineering. He uses his extensive knowledge and background in Building Codes and Fire Safety Engineering for evaluating fire and life safety features of existing buildings, conducting Life Safety Studies and performing Building Code Analysis for proposed construction, as well as developing alternative solutions under the objective-based codes. He has made presentations at Canadian Fire Safety Association (CFSA), Canadian Automatic Sprinkler Association (CASA), Ontario Retirement and Care Association (ORCA) and Ontario Municipal Fire Prevention Officer’s Association (OMFPOA), and written numerous articles regarding building and fire codes that have been published in magazines. Lui has provided code consulting, fire protection systems design and project management services for a wide variety of commercial, institutional, industrial, and assembly buildings. He is also the Chair for the York Chapter of Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
