Curtain walls and window walls are typically specified to meet a variety of different performance and testing criteria, defined by specific codes or industry standards. Full scale laboratory mock-up testing of glazing systems can provide a valuable demonstration of a systems’ ability to perform to specified requirements. We will present a variety of different failures that have occurred during laboratory mock-up testing, which reveal deficiencies in the design, assembly, or installation of the glazing systems. This webinar demonstrates the importance of lab testing as part of a quality assurance program. We will include recommendations on when laboratory mock-up testing should be considered and which tests should be included.

Andy Lang, B.Sc., AScT

With over 20 years of Building Science experience, Andy is a specialist in the review of complex glazing systems such as curtain walls, window walls, cable net walls and skylights. He has extensive knowledge of the glazing system manufacturing process and often conducts site visits to manufacturing facilities to ensure fabrication meets quality standards. His skills and technical expertise make him the ideal person to lead our team on world class projects.
