Addressing Thermal Bridging and Code Compliance For a Typical Commercial Building

This webinar highlights the latest thermal bridging research and resources related to whole-building energy performance: what thermal bridges are; how and where they occur; and, how they can be mitigated.

Addressing Thermal Bridging and Code Compliance For a Typical Commercial Building

High-performance building standards and new energy efficiency code updates are driving more projects to consider Target Performance paths set by provincial regulators . The prescribed EUI targets and monitoring requirements are placing thermal bridging and its impact on whole-building energy performance in the spotlight. This webinar highlights the latest thermal bridging research and resources related to whole-building energy performance: what thermal bridges are; how and where they occur; and, how they can be mitigated. Designers, contractors and building owners can expect to learn how thermal bridging impacts a building’s overall energy use and the importance of determining accurate values of thermal transmittance.

Presenter:

Neil Norris, P.Eng, CPHD – Building Science Consultant

Neil specializes in the research and evaluation of the thermal performance of the building envelope, including 2D/3D thermal modelling and in-situ monitoring and testing of real life building systems. As a main contributor to the Building Envelope Thermal Bridging Guide and a certified Passive House Designer, Neil has a deep understanding of how thermal bridging can impact the performance of the building envelope. Neil works with manufacturers and project teams to analyze and understand how to reduce thermal bridging from their envelope designs.
