We were part of the team that contributed to the technical guidance document which identifies and addresses the various design, operational, performance and financial factors that should be taken into consideration during the planning and developing organics processing facilities. Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine Compost Facility

A feasibility study was conducted to determine technologies, approaches and costs for a new composting facility. It was determined that a compost facility would extend the RDKS landfill’s lifespan considerably while reducing GHG emissions and BOD content in landfill leachate. Morrison Hershfield was then brough on as part of the design-build team responsible for the detailed design and construction QA/QC. (Terrace, BC)

 

Compost Facility Best Management Practices Study

To progress Metro Vancouver’s waste management goal of diverting 80% of the region’s waste from disposal by 2020, a review of their compost facility practices was completed to compare best practices and determine improvements for the region. (Vancouver, BC)

 

Commox Valley Regional District Organic Waste Management

The region’s organics management options were assessed to confirm the economics of the composting facility and transfer model and included detailed evaluation of three scenarios to determine costs for new composting facilities, transfer stations and waste hauling.
