Special Accommodation for Structural Steel Coating of Burlington Bay Skyway
by David Wang, MASc, E.I.T.

Add to CalendarSaturday, September 23rd – 8:30 am: Recently the Burlington Skyway in Hamilton, Ontario, underwent a complete replacement of the steel coating on the truss members.  Additional gravity loads and wind loads from the resulting scaffolding and environmental enclosures posed serious structural overload concerns. Learn how we were able to accommodate these challenges and deliver the project on time with no significant traffic delays or disruptions while maintaining structural integrity throughout construction.

David has been a Structural Designer at Morrison Hershfield since 2013. He has experience in the design and planning of highway bridges and culverts.  He specializes in advanced computer-aided analysis of complex truss and shell structures. David’s previous research experience includes the use of ultra-high performance concrete as applied to accelerated bridge construction methods.
