DCD>Towards Net-Zero

February 24, 2021 - February 25, 2021

DCD>Towards Net-Zero

Where does the data center fit into a zero-carbon future? The next decade will challenge the data center industry to find even more innovative ways to reduce its environmental impact as climate change policy takes center stage and drives a new era of carbon conscious behaviour where all buying decisions will be based on sustainability criteria.

This conference brings together major data center operators, energy professionals, policy makers and technology innovators to explore the CSR challenges they face, the renewable energy alternatives, sustainable supply chains, carbon accounting and the latest technologies as the industry strives to find its place in a more circular economy. More information and registration here.

Are we on the right track? We ask the next generation of engineering talent. – February 25th, 12:00 p.m. EST

With the younger generation seemingly the most aware of the sustainability agenda, and also those with the lifestyles driving the most demand for data center services, it seems apt that we hear their views on how the industry is faring on its path towards net zero.

We take three past winners of the DCD Young Mission Critical Engineer of the Year Award and ask them whether they feel the industry is on the right track. Are we heading towards a sustainable recovery from COVID where data centers will be part of the solution rather than the problem? Can cleantech shake up the industry and significantly move it forward? We examine their biggest concerns for the future – from water to greenwashing, and ask whether the digital economy can be tantamount to a sustainable economy and how.

Speakers: Laura Rogers, Morrison Hershfield, Sarah Davey, Arup and Vinodh Sampathkumar, Cundall
