Data Center Site Selection
Monday, March 12th – 1:00 pm
This presentation will provide an understanding of the major issues associated with the selection of a data center site. The location of the data center has risks associated with the area, security, weather, power, fiber and many not so obvious conditions.
Why does location matter? What are the risks with my site? How can I overcome my site issues? Why is the cost of power such an important aspect of my site selection? How does the weather impact my site and my operational savings? Can I get Incentives? Is it worth the effort? What are the benefits of an economic development zone? Do I purpose build or renovate an old data center or a warehouse? Pods/Containers/modular/design build/design-bid-build–What’s the difference?
Battery Technology and the Future for UPS
Tuesday, March 13th – 12:40 pm
This presentation will provide an understanding of battery technologies available to today, in the near future and the distant future relative to UPS applications. What, When, How and Why to use each technology supported by performance, physical footprint, initial cost, life-cycle cost, failure modes and disposal data. The presentation will be databased with real work examples of systems and client-based experience for the installed systems.
What is a battery? What are the different battery technologies? What is the best battery for my application based on a total cost of ownership evaluation?
