GO Rail Network Electrification TPAP
Morrison Hershfield was retained to lead and manage the Transit Project Assessment Process (TPAP). The objective of the project was to examine potential environmental effects of constructing and operating electrification infrastructure required to convert the existing GO Transit System from diesel to electric propulsion. As part of the Regional Express Rail (RER) initiative. The GO Rail Network Electrification is part of a multi-year program involving an Environmental Assessment Study (TPAP), Conceptual Design/Engineering, Project Specific Output Specifications/ Alternative Finance Procurement and Construction of the required infrastructure to electrify more than 200km of Metrolinx’s rail corridors.
Scope: Conduct document and field reviews of all corridor utilities, including utilities baseline condition assessments and reporting for six GO Rail Corridors, identification of utility conflicts, preliminary mitigation options and preparation of a Utilities Impact Assessment Report in support of the GO Rail Network Electrification TPAP. As well, the project included preliminary structural analysis of bridge modifications and establishing strategies for the modification of existing structures and preparation of reports to summarize findings and recommendations.
