Metro Vancouver Landfill Landfill Inventory and Closure

In order to determine if landfill closure was necessary, Morrison Hershfield provided historical research and physical inspection of 27 active and abandoned municipal waste landfill sites in the Metro Vancouver region. Pragmatic solutions were applied that protected environmental values while avoiding unnecessary future landfill closure planning costs at sites representing low environmental risks. (Metro Vancouver, BC)

Bigstone Cree Nation Engineered Landfill

As the unengineered landfill was reaching capacity, Morrison Hershfield provided siting, multidisciplinary design and construction QA/QC for a new engineered landfill to meet the community’s current and future solid waste management needs. (Wabasca, AB)

Landfills require pragmatic solutions that are cost-effective, sustainable, and tailored to each community’s specific needs while satisfying all regulatory requirements. Our solid waste team has planned, designed and assessed over 100 landfills for municipal and private-sector clients, and we can assist with every stage of a landfill’s life cycle, from facility planning and design to operational reviews, compliance reviews and closure.

We help you optimize your landfill sites with innovative designs, fill and sequence planning, and by incorporating operational efficiencies into our designs and master plans.
