City Creek Center

The development spans 23 acres and includes four new residential towers, two new high-rise office towers, one office tower rehabilitation, 575,000 SF of retail space, a flowing stream, and parking for 6,000 vehicles. Morrison Hershfield provided building envelope consulting services including design reviews and construction quality reviews for the roofing, cladding, glazing and waterproofing of this $1.5B dollar complex. Working with three different general contractors and two architects, the team was able to work out the building envelope design’s complex details across the project. (Salt Lake City, UT)

Empire Pass at Deer Valley

Building envelope consulting services were completed for the six-story ski lodge including the design review and performance testing of below grade waterproofing, glazing systems, exterior wall assemblies, roof assemblies, the horizontal balcony and the courtyard. By completing tests on a mock-up, we were able to confirm installation methods with the contractor. (Park City, UT)

Payson Temple

The Payson Temple is 253,000 SF across five stories. Morrison Hershfield completed the design review, window water testing, heat flow analysis of window assemblies, and infrared survey of the enclosure and roof system. After verifying the design and construction performance through mock-up testing, our review focused on maintaining a high level of quality through project completion. (Payson, UT)

Robert H. and Katharine B. Garff Executive Education Building

The new 150,000 building is located on the University of Utah campus. Morrison Hershfield provided building envelope commissioning services including the development and verification of the Owner’s Project Requirements, establishing the performance expectations for the building envelope, and reviewed the design and construction of the below-grade waterproofing, glazing systems, exterior wall assemblies, roof assemblies and horizontal waterproofing. The hands-on commissioning approach during the design and construction phase helped the project team to achieve a very tight building envelope (less than 0.01 cfm/sf), tested at project completion with a blower door. (Salt Lake City, UT)

Eccles Theater

The 2,400 seat theater features a contemporary design with a glass, limestone and masonry façade. Morrison Hershfield provided building envelope commissioning services for the below grade waterproofing, exterior glazing, exterior wall assemblies, roof assemblies and horizontal waterproofing assemblies. The building expands art and cultural opportunities in the community by bringing first-run Broadway shows to the residents and visitors of Salt Lake City. (Salt Lake City, UT)

Data Center – West Jordan

The 20,000 SF data center expansion was completed within an existing unconditioned metal building. Morrison Hershfield provided building envelope consulting services for the addition, including design review of critical roofing and exterior wall assemblies and waterproofing. Consideration of the wide range of exterior temperatures and the high internal relative humidity led to a carefully detailed air barrier. (Salt Lake City, UT)

Utah Valley Medical Center Outpatient & Medical Group Clinic

The newly constructed 250,000 SF medical center’s 10-story building includes a cancer center, conference center, and wide range of medical practices. Morrison Hershfield provided building envelope commissioning services for above and below-grade waterproofing, roofing and exterior enclosure assemblies. We worked as an integral part of the project team to meet project delivery expectations. (Provo, UT)
