The 33-story condominium tower in the downtown Edmonton Ice District features a triple-glazed window wall glazing assembly, ninth floor roof-top patio and individual unit balconies. Morrison Hershfield provided energy modeling and building envelope consulting services including design and construction review, testing of exterior glazing, opaque wall assemblies, main roof, deck and roof assemblies, and podium waterproofing. JW Marriott & The Legends Private Residences

The 54-story JW Marriott Hotel & The Legends Private Residences is the second tallest tower in Edmonton. Morrison Hershfield completed factory visits to review the flat and curved glass manufacturing facility in Shanghai, China, and attended performance mock-up testing in Miami, Florida to ensure performance of the unitized curtain wall system. Morrison Hershfield provided full building envelope consulting services including below-grade waterproofing, plaza deck waterproofing, exterior glazing, above-grade opaque exterior walls, and roof assemblies. Thickwood Medical Centre

Thickwood Medical Centre, originally constructed in 1980, required a complete building envelope replacement to address water and air leakage at windows, modernize and improve the aesthetic. MH was retained as the Prime Consultant to redesign the exterior envelope and remediate mold associated with the existing faulty envelope. The renovation was completed while the fully occupied health care facility remained operational. (Fort McMurray, AB)


Royal Alberta Museum

The largest museum in western Canada has more than 82,000 SF of exhibition space and 419,000 SF in total. Morrison Hershfield provided building envelope commissioning (BECx) services for the Government of Alberta, including LEED Durability Credit specialized services, expertise on integration of the envelope into the energy performance analysis and field testing services for key performance criteria. YWCA Banff Courtyard

The three-story YWCA Banff Courtyard building will hold over 33 affordable apartment units constructed of shipping containers. Morrison Hershfield is providing building envelope consulting services. The building will reach net-zero energy efficiency by incorporating innovative approaches such as high efficiency windows with an advanced building envelope, heat recovery system and solar voltaic system.
